Private Medical Insurance (PMI) pays for consultations, tests and operations in a private room without the need for waiting. You can choose which consultant, where you wish to be treated and most importantly treatment can be carried out within days. Cover can be for Single, Single Parent, Married or Couples and Family.

Aside from Accident & Emergencies we have three options open to us in the UK. The NHS, Private Medical Insurance (like BUPA) and paying as and when we need treatment. Unless you are extremely well off, the last option is not really a viable proposition for the general public in the UK.

So what about the other two options? The NHS does a fantastic job under the circumstances, but how long would you be prepared to wait if you were suffering in chronic pain for a hip replacement operation?

Private Medical Insurance is the other option, it gives you the choice of where and when you receive treatment. There problem with BUPA is that it can be expensive. So what other options do you have? Health-on-line offer a similar service to BUPA, only cheaper. You also have access to hospitals in Europe should something go wrong while you are abroad.
